Rhinestones fall off because heat and friction break down the glue, not because the stones themselves are fragile. That bond is strong under normal wear, but it has two enemies. The first is heat, which softens the adhesive layer until stones can slide or lift. A normal wash cycle delivers both at the same time, which is why so many people ruin a crystal hoodie on the very first wash.
Before the hoodie goes anywhere near water, turn it inside out, close any zipper fully, and check the stones. Run your palm gently over the graphic. If any stone wiggles, press it back down and let it be for now; a loose stone will almost certainly come off in the wash, and it is easier to re-glue a stone you still have than to replace one lost in the machine. Empty the pockets; a stray coin or key is exactly the abrasion the glue hates. Then place the hoodie in a mesh laundry bag. The bag is not optional. The tumble dryer is the single biggest killer of rhinestone hoodies: it combines sustained heat that liquefies adhesive with constant tumbling that knocks softened stones free. Even a low-heat dryer setting runs warmer than the glue would like. Instead, lay the hoodie flat on a drying rack or a clean towel, still inside out, and reshape it by hand. Hanging a soaked hoodie stretches the shoulders; once mostly dry it can finish on a wide hanger. Keep it away from radiators and direct sunlight, which fades dye and stresses glue.
A lost stone is fixable in about two minutes with a dab of clear washable fabric glue or E6000 adhesive. Save any stones you find in the mesh bag, apply a small drop of glue to the fabric, seat the stone with tweezers, and let it cure for a full 24 hours before wearing or washing.
